It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kate Harris, who left us on June 5th, 2024, at the age of 87. Kate was a cherished wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother, and an irreplaceable friend. Her warmth, generosity, and boundless energy touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. Born on April 17th, 1937, in Denver, Colorado, Kate was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Margaret Williams. From an early age, she exhibited a remarkable zest for life and a deep love for the outdoors. Kate's adventurous spirit led her to explore the natural beauty of her surroundings, from hiking the Rockies to camping under the stars. Her love for nature was only matched by her passion for helping others. Kate attended the University of Colorado, where she earned a degree in Environmental Science. Her dedication to preserving the environment was evident in both her professional and personal life. She worked tirelessly as an environmental consultant, striving to make the world a better place for future generations. Her colleagues admired her expertise, determination, and unwavering commitment to her work. In 1961, Kate met the love of her life, Michael Harris. They were married in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Kate and Michael were blessed with three wonderful children, Emily, Jack, and Sarah, who were the center of Kate's world. She was a nurturing and dedicated mother, always encouraging her children to pursue their dreams and embrace the beauty of life. Kate's vibrant personality and infectious laughter were the heart of every gathering. She had an extraordinary ability to bring people together and make them feel valued and loved. Whether it was organizing family reunions, planning community events, or simply hosting friends for dinner, Kate's home was always filled with warmth and joy. Beyond her professional achievements and family life, Kate was a passionate advocate for environmental causes and community service. She volunteered with numerous local organizations, leading initiatives to clean up parks, plant trees, and educate the public about sustainable living. Her efforts earned her several accolades, but she remained humble, always focusing on the greater good rather than personal recognition. Kate's love for life extended to her hobbies as well. She was an avid reader, a talented painter, and an enthusiastic gardener. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, blooming with vibrant flowers and providing a peaceful retreat for her and her loved ones. Kate also enjoyed traveling, and her family has countless memories of adventures across the country and around the world. Kate Harris is survived by her loving husband, Michael Harris; her children, Emily Carter, Jack Harris, and Sarah Mitchell; her grandchildren, Thomas, Margaret, Henry, and Elizabeth; her brother, Daniel Williams; and countless friends and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Her legacy of love, kindness, and environmental stewardship will live on through the many lives she touched. A celebration of Kate's life will be held on June 15th, 2024, at 2 PM at the Meadowbrook Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to plant trees in Kate's honor via EvergreenObits.com, continuing her lifelong commitment to preserving the natural beauty she cherished and protecting the environment she dedicated her life to. Kate, your spirit will forever guide us, your laughter will echo in our hearts, and your love will continue to inspire us. Rest in peace, dear Kate. We will always love you. To the Harris family, our deepest condolences. May the memories of Kate’s extraordinary life bring you comfort and strength during this difficult time.
